This is a lovingly crafted glorification of the Yakuza lifestyle as depicted in film over the past fifty years. The English in it is a bit awkward, and the American acting leaves a lot to be desired, but Kitano's performance holds it all together, which is impressive given how little he actually speaks. Sure, it paints with broad strokes, but I was happy to just go with it for a couple of hours and see how awesome Yakuza can actually be.
